Tuesday Oct 27, 2020
Tuesday Oct 27, 2020
FEATURED GUEST: LETTENEY
Following our first, exciting Halloween episode, we are introducing a new kind of episode: The NEW RELEASE.
Every few weeks, or when we think a new movie would be exciting to talk about, we'll take a break from our regularly scheduled programming to discuss something new and fresh.
This week's episode is on The Trial of the Chicago 7, Aaron Sorkin's recently released Netflix film which revolves around the real trial that swept up many protestors in the city of Chicago in 1968.
SPOILER WARNING: This New Release is a special one, and since the events are generally well-known pieces of history, we don't offer a spoiler bumper inside the episode. Everything that takes place in the movie is fair game pretty much from the start. If you want an unspoiled experience, or simply want to see the movie before hearing our hot takes, please come back and listen when you get a chance!
As always, if you like this episode (or hate it) please like, rate, subscribe on whatever platform you hear us on. If you have a question for us, please email us at notyourfathersmovies@gmail.com

HALLOWEEN EPISODE: IT (2017)
Tuesday Oct 20, 2020
Tuesday Oct 20, 2020
FEATURED GUEST: DAVE
Welcome to our very first Halloween Special Episode! This year we are doing IT from 2017, based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King.
CONTENT WARNING: We discuss, frankly and with language matching the source material, both the 2017 film and the original 1986 novel, complete with the problematic issues of both. This includes abuse, violence towards children, alcoholism, drug abuse, and inappropriate child activity. The material is only what has been published or filmed and we attempt to be fair and just when it comes to said material.
This is a first for us, as we tackle something very different, and also because as we do episodes going forward, we are also shifting what we talk about and our content based upon the material we are covering. So this week, we are talking fast and loose as we do a deep dive into the horror classic IT, from 2017.
Here at NYFM, we will be frequently taking a break from our regularly scheduled series or trilogies with some other episodes. These episodes may focus on new releases or may be episodes based around seasonal events, or completely arbitrary events. When we do these, we will interrupt our regular release schedule with these new episodes, as we simply cannot wait to share them with all of you! Personally, we think this episode is a sterling example of some of our best recording.
So, please continue to download, like, subscribe and comment or rate all of our episodes; it helps us out in ways innumerable. If you want more, or different, content please let us know! We always love hearing whatever is on your minds at notyourfathersmovies@gmail.com

Spiderman 3.
The most controversial superhero movie, bar-none? Maybe. The most hated? Possibly. Does Vito really love it?
You betcha.
In this, the conclusion to our Spiderman trilogy, we tackle one of the most controversial modern blockbusters of our time. And we ask the age-old question: is it a Dad Movie? Does it belong on the Wall of Dad?

Here is the second episode of Not Your Father's Movies: Spiderman 2!
It's here: our episode on one of the true classics in the genre. This film has influenced many the world over, as well as redefining what a comic book movie could do.
In this episode, we try and tackle it all. The romance, the fights, the heroism, the pizza delivery: it is all here. What is lacking a little is audio quality. We were able to mostly fix it about 20 minutes in, so fast forward if that bothers you. Otherwise know that this is a learning experience for us, and we are always striving to make the best podcast we can make, or I should say, the best podcast out there.

Welcome to the first episode of Not Your Father's Movies! This is the first in a series where we tackle the Sam Raimi Spiderman trilogy.
These three films were legendary for paving the way for superhero films as we know them, and for us at NYFM, they were instrumental in shaping our interests in movies and comic characters as children. In our inaugural episode, we discuss the first Spiderman movie, our nostalgia, and how we feel about it now that we have children of our own to share it with.
